Jose Mourinho: 'Diego Costa will not be at his best'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is looking to give Diego Costa a start against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, but does not expect the striker to be at his best.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he will start Diego Costa in tomorrow's Champions League last-16 first leg away at Paris Saint-Germain, but does not expect him to be at his best.

The Brazil-born Spain striker was banned retrospectively for three matches after treading on Liverpool's Emre Can in the Blues' League Cup semi-final win in January.

Mourinho told a news conference in Paris: "Yes, I'll start [Costa]. But I don't think it's good for a player to be three weeks or three matches without starting a game. So I don't think he's in the best of his condition."

Costa has 17 goals in 19 Premier League games this term, but is yet to score in Europe for Chelsea.
