Scottish Premiership roundup: Celtic leave it late

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Celtic have got the better of Aberdeen 3-1 at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership, thanks to two goals in injury time.

Kris Commons gave the defending Scottish champions the lead in the 36th minute with a right-footed shot from outside the box, but Niall McGinn equalised for the visitors in first-half injury time.

Despite Celtic's best endeavours in the second period, they could surge ahead only in the 91st minute through Derk Boerrigter and two minutes later Commons tapped home his second goal of the contest to wrap up the win.

This means that Neil Lennon's side's lead at the top of the table remains five points as Inverness Caledonian Thistle defeated St Johnstone 1-0 at home.

Billy McKay's strike as early as the fourth minute was enough for the Jags to wrap up all three points.

Meanwhile, Dundee United hammered Partick Thistle 4-1 at home, with Gary Mackay-Steven scoring twice and Ryan Gauld providing the assists for all the four goals.

Visiting Partick ended the contest with just nine men, as Conrad Balatoni and Stuart Bannigan were dismissed in the 75th and 90th minute respectively.

Elsewhere in the Scottish top flight on Saturday, Motherwell maintained their position in third with a 2-0 away victory over Kilmarnock and Hearts played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Ross County at the Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh.

Results in full: Celtic 3-1 Aberdeen, Dundee United 4-1 Partick Thistle, Hearts 2-2 Ross County, Inverness CT 1-0 St Johnstone, Kilmarnock 0-2 Motherwell
