Celtic midfielder Kris Commons has described signing a new contract with the club as a "massive relief" following intense speculation over his future.
The 31-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Bolton Wanderers during the transfer window in order to team up with former boss Neil Lennon, having slipped down the pecking order under Ronny Deila.
However, the club confirmed earlier today that the former Scotland international had agreed a new two-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him in Glasgow until the summer of 2017.
"It's a huge burden off my shoulders and now I can concentrate on the proper stuff of playing football and winning trophies for this club," Commons told Celtic TV.
"I'm absolutely buzzing. It's been a strange couple of months. Obviously speculation is never good for the mind and trying to play at the top level.
"So now that's put to bed I can concentrate on football and trying to get this club trophies. It's a massive relief for not just myself but my family."
Commons scored 32 goals for the club last season but has only found the net eight times in 28 outings during the current campaign.
