Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that defender Erik Sviatchenko faces around six weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Centre-back Sviatchenko sustained the problem during the club's European fixture with Rosenborg on Wednesday night, and while Rodgers suggested that he had expected the Dane to miss a longer period, the Hoops boss acknowledged that the player will be absent for the foreseeable future.
Rodgers told reporters: "We've just had his results so he will probably be up to about six weeks, which is disappointing.
"It could have been worse but we will take it at six weeks, not probably back until September."
Sviatchenko will miss the opening games in the Scottish Premiership, as well the club's Champions League playoff tie with Astana.
