Celtic striker Anthony Stokes has been ruled out of Thursday's trip to Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League due to illness.

The Irishman was close to travelling with the team to Romania, but he was turned away from the airport by the club's medical staff.

Stokes has scored four goals in 18 appearances for the Scottish champions so far this season.

Celtic can qualify for the last 32 of the Europa League tomorrow night with victory over Astra.
