The Bluebirds have been linked with a host of strikers today, including Manchester United's Federico Macheda and Leeds United frontman Ross McCormack.
However, it has emerged that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned his attention to 27-year-old Le Fondre, according to Sky Sports News.
It is not yet known if Reading have accepted the offer or not.
Le Fondre has scored 13 goals for the Royals this season.
