David Marshall: 'Cardiff City lacked fight under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer'

David Marshall praises the work of temporary management duo Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon, saying that they have added some much-needed fighting spirit to the side.

Cardiff City captain David Marshall has admitted that the club lacked fight under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Bluebirds made a poor start to the Championship season, which led to the Norwegian boss being shown the door.

However, temporary management duo Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon have steadied the ship somewhat, taking five points from three games to lift Cardiff up to 14th place.

"They have done a great job along with their backroom staff, who have come up from the academy," Marshall is quoted as saying by Wales Online. "For two home games in a row, against Norwich and Middlesbrough, there was not enough fight there. That's all the fans can ask for, and we had to put that right.

"The first things which were put across to the players when Young and Gabbidon took charge was that passion was lacking from our performances. It probably was.

"They are Cardiff through and through, we all know that, and are making sure we give everything we have as a team. There was a need for organisation and direction. They have provided that and we are unbeaten in three matches. Our aim is to make sure we extend that against Blackpool."

Russell Slade is widely expected to be named as the new manager of the Welsh outfit in the coming days.
