Adam le Fondre eager to prove his worth at Cardiff City

Adam le Fondre targets more goals after breaking his Cardiff City duck in last night's 3-1 victory against Ipswich Town.

Cardiff City striker Adam le Fondre has pledged to repay the faith shown in him by new manager Russell Slade.

The 27-year-old, who made the move to South Wales from Reading in the summer, has failed to truly make an impact at the Bluebirds so far, having been forced to play in wide areas under former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, Slade was quick to move Le Fondre into a more central position alongside fellow new boy Federico Macheda, which coincided with the Englishman's first Cardiff goal in last night's 3-1 win against Ipswich Town.

"When I signed I had ambitions to play up front and I think all the fans wanted to see me up front," he told BBC Sport. "I'm sure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to play me up front and I don't know what transpired where obviously I didn't get picked up front.

"Now I'm playing up front under the new gaffer and I think I'll go on to show why I should play there, I think I'll score goals. I don't care how they go in, and that's what I'm about."

Cardiff are now unbeaten in two games since Slade took over earlier this month, with a trip to face Millwall on the weekend next up.
