Tom Heaton overcomes injury scare

Cardiff City keeper Tom Heaton says that he has overcome an ankle injury and will be available for the Carling Cup final.

Cardiff City keeper Tom Heaton has said that he has overcome an ankle injury and will be available for selection for the Bluebirds' Carling Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday.

The second-choice stopper staked a claim for the starting position during Cardiff's semi-final penalty shoot-out with Crystal Palace.

"I've had a slight knock with my ankle a couple of weeks ago but I've trained properly this morning so I'm back to 100% thankfully," Heaton told BBC Sport.

"It was a bit worrying at the time but I'm available for selection."

Cardiff's first-choice keeper David Marshall has said that Heaton has "earned the right" to start in the final.
