League Two roundup: Bury halt Shrewsbury Town promotion party

Sports Mole rounds up Tuesday's League Two action as Bury halt Shrewsbury Town's automatic promotion party, beating them 1-0 at home.

Shrewsbury Town will have to wait another week for the chance to celebrate promotion to League One, as they lost 1-0 to playoff-chasers Bury, with Joe Riley's second-half strike sealing all three points.

Paul Hayes scored a penalty in the 12th minute of extra time to see Wycombe Wanderers beat Exeter City 2-1 and snatch three important points in their bid for an automatic promotion place.

Substitute Marlon Harewood scored a vital equaliser for Hartlepool United in the last 10 minutes of their match with Accrington Stanley, with the point keeping the North-East side just out of the relegation places.

Cheltenham Town have moved off the foot of the table but failed to climb out of the relegation zone, despite a 3-1 victory over Cambridge United.

Phil Brown's Southend United comfortably beat Newport County 2-0, after goals from Cian Bolger and Stephen McLaughlin earned the playoff side all three points.

Ten-man Luton Town, who saw Paul Benson receive a first-half red card for violent conduct, managed to hold on for a point away at Dagenham & Redbridge, as the game finished in a stalemate.

Tom Pett's third-minute strike against Portsmouth saw Stevenage boost their chances of finishing in the playoff places, as they ran out 1-0 winners.

AFC Wimbledon held Plymouth Argyle to a 1-1 draw, as Ade Azeez cancelled out Anthony O'Connor's opener in the second half.

Alex MacDonald's 91st-minute equaliser rescues a point for Oxford United, after Ivan Toney broke the deadlock in the first 45 minutes for Northampton Town.

York City fought back from being a goal down to beat Morecambe 2-1, as Russell Penn and Stephane Zubar both got their names on the scoresheet for the home side.

Despite getting sent off in the 97th minute, Reggie Lambe's goal wrapped up the points for Mansfield Town in their relegation scrap with bottom-of-the-table Tranmere Rovers.
