Sean Dyche hails "relentless" Burnley desire in Cardiff City draw

Burnley manager Sean Dyche admits that his side got a little fortunate with the manner of their late leveller at Cardiff City, but believes it was fully deserved.

Sean Dyche has claimed that Burnley were good value for their late rescue act at Cardiff City due to the never-say-die attitude on show.

The Clarets found themselves heading for a first defeat in nine league outings when left trailing by two goals in the final five minutes.

A Rouwen Hennings strike and Matt Connolly's own goal in the dying seconds eventually earned Burnley the most dramatic of points in South Wales, which Dyche believes was fully deserved in the context of things.

"We have a relentless nature," the Lancashire Telegraph quotes him as saying. "I've mentioned it many times, we don't go under and if we do it will be from good play from the opposition and not from our own lack of will and desire.

"I thought that was absolutely on show. We get the first from Rouwen, who has a terrific mentality to be left out of the side, come on and look sharp and deliver a performance, which gets us back in it.

"We get a scratch of luck with the equaliser, but I think we'd deserved it by that stage because we weren't just trying to beat the 11 in front of us - the decisions all afternoon didn't go anywhere near our way. We dealt with that well mentally and focused on the game rather than the decisions."

Burnley remain fifth in the Championship table, four points adrift of leaders Brighton & Hove Albion but six clear of Ipswich Town in seventh place.
