Nicky Shorey departs Bristol City

Full-back Nicky Shorey opts to leave Bristol City following a four-month spell at Ashton Gate.

Nicky Shorey has left League One club Bristol City with immediate effect.

The Robins signed the full-back on a four-month deal, which has now expired.

However, having spoken with the 32-year-old, manager Steve Cotterill has revealed that the defender has decided to move on.

"I had a good chat with Nicky and we won't be taking the deal any further," Cotterill told the club's official website.

"Nicky is keen to find a club closer to his home so it can make family life a bit easier for him.

"He's a great professional and we wish him well for the future."

Shorey made two appearances for England at senior level back in 2007.
