Vitalijs Maksimenko makes Kilmarnock loan switch

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Vitalijs Maksimenko joins Kilmarnock on loan for the remainder of the season.

Kilmarnock have signed Brighton & Hove Albion defender Vitalijs Maksimenko on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

The 23-year-old joined the Championship side from Skonto Riga last January, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Seagulls head coach Oscar Garcia told the club's official website: "Vitalijs has been excellent in training and while representing the club at Under-21 level but it is important that he is playing first-team football.

"This move provides him with that and the aim for him now is to win a place in their first team, but hold one down as well."

Maksimenko has made just two appearances for Brighton.
