Brondby starlet Clement Bischoff has expressed his disappointment following the collapse of his January transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion and hopes that he can move abroad in the near future.

The 19-year-old was allegedly close to completing a £7m move to the Amex Stadium, with Danish news outlet Tipsbladet claiming that the left-sided player had travelled to England to undergo medical tests with the Seagulls.

However, Bischoff's move to Brighton fell through following a last-minute disagreement between the two parties, leaving the Brondby teenager frustrated.

"I can't say much other than that it didn't happen and that I've moved on," the Danish Under-21 international told Tipsbladet via Sport Witness.

"But it was a hard few days and something I thought about a lot. Now I'm looking forward to playing again and progressing."

Bischoff has a "plan" to "move abroad" amid Brighton interest

Bischoff has played 25 times for Brondby this season, chipping in with two goals and eight assists as a left wing-back, but he is yet to play for the club since his proposed move to Brighton collapsed, as he has been serving a domestic suspension since the resumption of the Danish Superliga following a winter break.

The youngster does not know if Brighton will reignite their pursuit of him this summer, but he has reiterated his desire to move abroad in the near future.

"I have a plan and I'm working every day to make this move abroad," said Bischoff. "This was a really good opportunity for me (to join Brighton), but it is what it is. If I keep doing it right, I know the opportunity will come again.

"Yes, at the moment I'm disappointed, and in the first days it was tough, but you don't get anything out of burying yourself.

"It's hard for me to say, because I can't get into the details. There are a lot of things in these pre-agreements. They are a bit more complicated, and the parties couldn't agree in the end. That's how it is."

Bischoff "not closing any options" ahead of summer

Bischoff is due to see his contract at Brondby expire in June 2026, and while he is keen to make the move to a club like Brighton, he has refused to entirely rule out the possibility of extending his deal with the Danish outfit.

"We (Brondby sporting director Benjamin Schmedes and Bischoff's representatives) have agreed that we're calm, but it's something to talk about," the teenager added.

"I felt this was the right thing for me because there was a good plan and Brighton are good with young players, but it's definitely an option to extend or move in the summer. I'm not closing any options, but it's something we need to think about."

It is understood that Brighton remain interested in signing Bischoff amidst uncertainty over the future of fellow full-back Tariq Lamptey, who is out of contract in the summer.

Pervis Estupinan has struggled with injuries this term, but he remains a first-team left-back option under head coach Fabian Hurzeler, when fit, while Valentin Barco joined Ligue 1 side Strasbourg on loan last month and they possess an option to buy.
