Glenn Murray is satisfied with Brighton & Hove Albion's 1-1 draw against south coast rivals Southampton on Sunday, describing it as a "fair result".

Glenn Murray has declared himself satisfied with Brighton & Hove Albion's 1-1 draw against south coast rivals Southampton.

The in-form Seagulls forward netted his third goal in two matches to secure a point for the hosts in Sunday's Premier League encounter at the Amex Stadium.

"I think at points in the second half we pushed them," Murray told Sky Sports News.

"It ebbed and flowed and maybe we were hanging on a bit at the end. But I think 1-1 is a fair result.

"It was important we scored early in the second half. We pushed them for the win, but in the end we couldn't quite get it and settled for a draw."

Asked about whether his form would see him given an extended first-team run, Murray replied: "I can't do much more, but it is about the team and getting points in the Premier League, whoever plays."

Up next for Brighton is a trip to Swansea City in the Premier League next Saturday.
