Phil Parkinson signs new deal at Bradford City

Bradford City boss Phil Parkinson signs a new three-year contract at the club.

Bradford City have confirmed that manager Phil Parkinson has signed a new three-year contract at the club.

The Bantams boss recently celebrated his four years at the helm, a tenure which already makes him the sixth longest-serving manager in the top four divisions of English football, the Premier League and Football League combined.

The former Charlton Athletic head coach led City to the League Cup final in 2012-13 and promotion from League Two via the playoffs in the same season, before the club narrowly missed out on the League One playoffs by finishing seventh last campaign.

Speaking to Bradford's official website, Parkinson said: "It is a fantastic honour to be the manager of this football club. Every time I drive to the ground for a matchday, I always get a feeling of immense pride that I am the manager of Bradford City.

"I am very proud of my record here at Bradford City so far but I have been very lucky to receive the backing that I have had from the chairman and the board.

"I take this job very seriously because I know that I am representing the city of Bradford and our thousands of supporters. There is a lot of responsibility that comes with this job but I have enjoyed every minute of it, and I am ambitious to keep carrying the club forward again."

Bradford travel to Fleetwood Town tomorrow in 11th place in League One after amassing two wins, two draws and two losses from their first six games of the season.
