Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels out for "three weeks"

A sprained foot will keep Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels out of action for "three weeks".

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that captain Mats Hummels will be sidelined for "three weeks".

The centre-back picked up a foot injury during yesterday's 2-1 Bundesliga defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.

A subsequent scan has shown that the German international has suffered a sprain which is likely to keep him out of action until the end of the month.

"Mats Hummels is expected to be out for three weeks and will miss the Champions League match against Galatasaray on Tuesday and Sunday's Bundesliga clash against Monchengladbach, with the next game after a two-week international break being an away trip to Paderborn on November 22," read a statement on the club's official website.

The 25-year-old has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season.
