Owen Coyle is adamant that Bolton Wanderers will escape relegation to the Championship.

Owen Coyle believes that Bolton Wanderers have the right "mental strength" to cope with the relegation battle and remain in the Premier League.

The North West club sit second from bottom in the league table with 12 games left until the close of the season.

"[Supporters] work hard and then come and watch the team. They want it to be right," Coyle told the Daily Mail. "I recognise that. I have an understanding of what it means to them. But I also think that they know what we are doing here.

"They have seen the quick fixes of the past but have recognised that we have had to draw a line in the sand and say that, for the financial security of the club, it has to be done a different way now.

"I think we will stay up, I really do. And I think the club will be in an unbelievable position of strength from which to kick on. But in football you have to have mental strength. If you feel sorry for yourself you are in the wrong game. You will be swallowed up."

The Trotters go head to head with league leaders Manchester City tomorrow.
