Neil McDonald: 'Blackpool deserved first win of season'

Neil McDonald says that Blackpool "deserved" to claim their first away win in 17 months after they got the better of Scunthorpe United.

Neil McDonald believes that Blackpool deserved their first win of the season in League One.

Blackpool defeated Scunthorpe United after Brad Potts scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute.

"We've got our first three points and we've had our first clean sheet. That's given everybody confidence in the changing room to move on, and move on to better things hopefully," McDonald told the club's official website.

"We needed one off the shoulder, off the knee, off the chest, whatever way it would come, and we've got that. It just gave them something to hold onto and they've put their bodies on the line and thoroughly deserved the three points today.

"That will give everybody confidence and we can relax and pass the ball better, if and when we do take the lead. The spaces will appear and we've got to try and get that second goal to try and take a bit more pressure off ourselves."

The victory was Blackpool's first away win since defeating Wigan Athletic in April 2014.
