Michael Appleton unhappy with Bloomfield Road pitch

Blackpool manager Michael Appleton expresses his disappointment at the state of the Bloomfield Road pitch during last night's 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.

Blackpool manager Michael Appleton has expressed his disappointment at the state of the Bloomfield Road pitch during last night's 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.

Tom Ince's first-half opener was cancelled out by a Curtis Davies header after the break and Appleton believes that the playing surface made it difficult for both side's creative players to impress.

"I do think, without making too many excuses, the pitch had a massive part to play in the game," said Appleton. "A lot of the players couldn't really trust the bounce of the ball and there were a lot of passes going astray on both sides."

Blackpool have not won in their last seven matches at home.
