Blackburn Rovers have rejected an offer from Newell's Old Boys for Mauro Formica, according to the player.
The 23-year-old Argentinian moved to Ewood Park from Newell's last January and has scored on two occasions during his spell with the club.
"My agent spoke with the leaders of Blackburn to see if they would let me go on loan. It was a possibility and I got excited a lot," Formica told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"But the sporting director told him to sit and talk only if it was a sale."
Rovers will reportedly sell Formica for £5m.
