Harry Redknapp: 'I believe in Birmingham City promotion'

Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp insists that his side have what it takes to earn promotion to the Premier League this season.

Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp has said that he still has a "strong belief" that the club can be promoted to the Premier League this season.

Having kept the Midlands side in the Championship on a dramatic final day of last season, Redknapp oversaw a summer of change at St Andrew's, bringing in 13 new players to aid in a promotion push.

The club have got off to a disastrous start, however, losing four of their opening six fixtures to sit 21st in the table on a tally of just four points.

Yesterday the club suffered a 1-0 defeat at Norwich City and, speaking after the final whistle, Redknapp told reporters that it would take time for his new recruits to bed in.

"It's difficult. I've said all along if you throw a new team together, it's not an ideal time to do it," he said. "But with 40 games there's still an awful long way to go and a lot of points and I still think come the end of the season we'll be up there, I really do.

"That's my strong belief. There are some good players here now and I think going forward we'll see a good team here.

"We've just got to be patient and keep working at it and it will come."

Next up for Brum is a trip to high-flying Leeds United on Tuesday night.
