Lee Clark backs Jack Butland to shine at Olympics

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark says that Jack Butland will thrive on the pressure of the Olympics.

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has said that promising goalkeeper Jack Butland will not be daunted by the magnitude of the Olympics.

The 19-year-old has been named in Stuart Pearce's 18-man squad for the summer Games, where Team GB are in a group along with Senegal, the UAE and Uruguay.

Clark, who took over at St Andrews following Chris Hughton's departure to Norwich City, believes that Butland, who was also a part of England's Euro 2012 squad, will thrive under the pressure.

"In terms of pressure, he'll go the other way and thrive on it," said the former Huddersfield Town manager. "He's the sort who will not be daunted."

Butland has yet to make his Blues debut but enjoyed a spell on loan at League Two side Cheltenham Town last season.
