Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed that Robert Lewandowski is close to signing a new long-term contract with the German champions.
Earlier this week, Lewandowski's representative Maik Barthel denied media reports that the Polish international, who was strongly linked with Real Madrid in the summer, was close to an extension at the Allianz Arena.
However, Rummenigge has said that "talks have progressed well over the last few days" and hinted that an announcement on the striker's future would soon be made.
"Talks have progressed well over the last few days. Sometimes good things come to those who wait," Rummenigge told reporters. "Once we've extended the contract, we'll announce it the next day. We don't need to make a song or dance over it."
Lewandowski, who joined Bayern on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2012, is under contract with the German giants for another three years.
