Barcelona duo Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta have lavished praise on Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm, admitting that they have been impressed by his smooth transition to central midfield.
Lahm has largely played in an unfamiliar holding midfield role since Pep Guardiola took charge of Bayern, despite playing at right-back for most of his career to date.
Spanish schemer Xavi has shared his admiration for Lahm's ability to perform at the top level consistently, revealing that he has a deep respect for the German international's style of play.
He told the Bundesliga's official website: "Lahm is a top player with a huge personality.
"You can play him in defence, in midfield or going forward, and by the looks of it, he just doesn't stop improving."
Iniesta echoed his club colleague's sentiments, declaring that he could make any position on the pitch his own.
He said: "Lahm can do whatever he wants, even in midfield he's superb."
The 29-year-old went past a century of caps for his country earlier this year, with last Friday's 3-0 win over the Republic of Ireland his 102nd cap for Germany.
