Philipp Lahm fit to face Porto

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm insists that he is fit to face Porto in the the Champions League quarter-finals following an illness.

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has revealed that he is fit to face Porto in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

The 31-year-old was forced to miss his side's victory over Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday due to gastroenteritis.

Despite concerns over his health, Lahm insists that he will be ready to play at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday when Bayern will look to overturn a 3-1 deficit.

"I am fine and I will play," he is quoted as saying by Goal.com. "The game is important and I am fit to play it. It will not be easy for us, but we have our fans with us and we will fight until the end.

"We will do everything to go through but an early goal would be perfect. We want to control the game - that is our style of play. We need a good balance in all our team, not just in the defence.

"We are a very good team and we have proven our quality several times in the last few years. It is vital that we stay calm. We have 90 minutes to score our goals. I am sure that we will go to the semi-finals."

Lahm recently returned to action after spending five months on the sidelines with a broken ankle.
