PSV director Marcel Brands would welcome Ibrahim Affelay back to the Philips Stadion with open arms.

PSV Eindhoven director Marcel Brands has said that Barcelona misfit Ibrahim Afellay will "always have a place" at the Philips Stadion.

The Dutch winger failed to break into the first team at Camp Nou after his £2.5m arrival two years ago and was loaned out to Schalke 04 last season.

A number of clubs across Europe have been linked with the 27-year-old, but Brands believes that a return to PSV would see him regain his place in the national side.

"There is always a place for him," he told Voetbal International.

"If he wants to come with a view to his recovery and a place in the Oranje, the door is open."

Afellay made 15 appearances for Schalke last season.
