Neymar's proposed return to Barcelona this summer reportedly broke down due to Paris Saint-Germain refusing to budge on their £200m valuation of the Brazilian.
The 27-year-old, who signed for PSG from Barcelona for a world-record £198m fee in 2017, has actively pushed for a return to Camp Nou all summer.
However, it emerged last week that the La Liga champions had completely abandoned their pursuit of Neymar after failing to find common ground with PSG.
According to Sky Sports News, the main reason behind why Neymar's move failed to materialise was because of PSG's determination to recoup all of the cash laid out for him two years ago.
The forward, who travels with the Brazil squad to Miami this week, is said to have even offered a subsidy of £17.7m from his own pocket in order to push the deal through.
Barcelona's reluctance to lay out the full sum for Neymar is a result of a busy summer during which they signed Antoine Griezmann for around £108m.
