Newcastle United are reportedly confident that Bruno Guimaraes will sign a new contract with the club amid interest from Barcelona.
Guimaraes has played a key role in a memorable 2022-23 campaign for Newcastle, scoring five goals and registering five assists in 40 competitive appearances.
The midfielder started 32 of the club's 38 Premier League matches, helping his side qualify for next season's Champions League.
A number of clubs have seemingly been impressed with Guimaraes's performances, including newly-crowned La Liga champions Barcelona.
A recent report claimed that the Catalan giants are interested in signing the 25-year-old during the summer transfer window.

Barcelona believe that an offer in the region of €100m (£87m) could convince Newcastle to part ways with Guimaraes, who joined the Magpies from Lyon for an initial €42.1m (£36.4m) fee in January 2022.
However, according to 90min, Newcastle are unconcerned by the links with Barcelona, and they are currently working on a new deal.
Guimaraes is under contract until the summer of 2026, but talks over an improved deal have been ongoing for a number of months.
The Magpies are hopeful that an agreement over a new deal can be reached before the 2023-24 season starts in August.

The Brazil international, who has established himself as a fan favourite, is understood to be very happy with life at St James' Park.
Speaking after Newcastle secured Champions League qualification with a goalless draw against Leicester City on May 22, Guimaraes stated that he wants to fight for silverware with the club.
Guimaras told reporters: "I think the challenge will be bigger than next year. I think the team has to have a goal of Champions League, not to go now and then not for ten years.
"We have to get used to being there. Like in the Carabao Cup final, we have to get used to going there. I think this is the ambition - fight for titles. The club deserves titles. Because of that I am here. That's it!"
During his time with the Magpies, Guimaraes has scored 10 goals and contributed six assists in 57 appearances across all competitions.
