Barcelona are reportedly working on a deal with Atletico Madrid to extend the loan agreement for Portuguese forward Joao Felix beyond this season.
Felix joined La Blaugrana on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid after falling out of favour under Diego Simeone.
The 24-year-old has been in good form for the defending La Liga champions and has already contributed six goals and three assists in 20 appearances for the club this term.
According to Goal, Barca are now ready to plan for a second loan spell for Felix as they look to keep the Portuguese forward's services for another season.
The report adds that Barca's current financial issues could prove to be a stumbling block, though, as they will not be able to sanction deals for both Felix and Joao Cancelo and will need Atletico to agree to another loan deal.
However, the entire situation may hinge on Felix extending his contract with Atletico to maintain his market value for the club.
The president of Atletico Madrid Enrique Cerezo stated that if Barcelona do not secure a permanent deal for Felix, the player will return Atletico.
Upon signing for Los Colchoneros, Felix became the second-most expensive teenage signing in football history, behind Kylian Mbappe.
