Xavi's free kick is enough to give Barcelona victory at Granada, sending them top of La Liga.

Barcelona have gone top of La Liga after edging out Granada 1-0 this evening.

The only goal of the game came in the 33rd minute through Xavi Hernandez. The Spanish playmaker was fouled just outside the box and stepped up to curl the resulting free kick home.

Lionel Messi threatened throughout and had an effort cleared off line midway through the second half.

The home side also had Jaime Romero and Dani Benitez sent off.

Barca go top by one point from surprise early pace-setters Levante, but the Valencia club and Real Madrid have the chance to leapfrog the champions when they host Real Sociedad and Villarreal respectively tomorrow evening.
