Barcelona forward Lionel Messi reached 20 La Liga goals for the season in Saturday's 4-0 win over Mallorca to create some more history.

Lionel Messi marked his return to action by setting another record with his goal in Saturday's La Liga victory over Mallorca.

The Argentina international scored late on to seal a 4-0 victory at Estadio de Son Moix as Barca stretched their lead at the top to five points.

In finding the net, the 32-year-old became the only player to hit the 20-goal mark in 12 successive league campaigns, a run that started with his 23-goal haul in 2008-09.

Messi also set up goals for Martin Braithwaite and Jordi Alba after Arturo Vidal had given the Catalan giants an early lead.

It was Barca's first game back following a three-month hiatus owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
