Pep Guardiola: "Barcelona's players motivate themselves"

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola says that Barcelona's players 'motivated themselves' during his time in charge at the Camp Nou

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has claimed that Barcelona's players 'motivated themselves' during his time in charge of the Spanish outfit.

Andres Iniesta and Xavi are just two players that flourished under Guardiola's control from 2008 to 2011, but the Spaniard has taken little credit for the 14 trophies that he collected with Barca.

"Barcelona's players motivate themselves," Guardiola told Sport.

"I did not teach Xavi or Iniesta to play. Coaches are here to lend a hand but they have been playing well for 20 years. Coaches do not make good players play well. They play well enough without me.

"I imbue a certain success but it's a personal matter. With me, they did not have the same success as they did with Tito Vilanova [when Barcelona reached 100 points in one league season]."

Guardiola's Bayern side won the Bundesliga title last night.
