Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff has revealed that Pep Guardiola moved to the United States because he wanted "some distance from football".

The Catalan is currently on a sabbatical after stepping down as the Barca coach at the end of last season.

"Pep lives in the USA now because he had four very intense years as coach of Barcelona," said Cruyff.

"He wanted some distance from football. In New York, he can walk around without being recognised so that he can think about his future."

Guardiola has been linked with a managerial job at Italian club AC Milan.
