Lionel Messi will again be absent from Barcelona's La Liga clash with Valencia this weekend, according to a report.

Barcelona will reportedly once again be without Lionel Messi this weekend as the Argentina international struggles to shake off a calf problem.

The Argentina international is yet to turn out for Ernesto Valverde's side during the 2019-20 campaign after picking up an injury during a training session at the start of August.

Before the international break, Messi - said to be a target for David Beckham's newly-formed club Inter Miami - had been tipped to return for the clash with Valencia on Saturday night.

However, according to Sport, an ongoing calf problem will see the 32-year-old miss out against Los Che in a match where the Spanish champions will be looking to return to winning ways.

Barca have only won one of their three La Liga fixtures at the start of the 2019-20 season, leaving them in eighth spot in the table, already five points off leaders Atletico Madrid.

Luis Suarez, however, is set to ease the club's injury problems by returning this weekend, with the Uruguay international overcoming a calf problem of his own.
