Luis Enrique hails Barcelona's "fighting spirit" after Champions League win

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique says that he was pleased with his team's spirit during their win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has hailed his team's "fighting spirit" after they came from behind to defeat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in the Champions League.

The Spaniard admitted that he was pleased with the comeback because they managed to pull it off without the help of the injured Lionel Messi.

"This team has a special fighting spirit. It was our second game without our best player Messi and second win," Enrique told reporters.

"All the players had that same spirit today, they fought until the end. I was satisfied with Neymar. Every player gives everything. Comparing them to Messi makes no sense."

Although Enrique was pleased with his players, he was unhappy with the crowd's response to their team falling behind.

"We needed more support from the crowd when things weren't going our way," he added.

"The team deserves more credit. You should support the team before, not only when it's going well. The players run and go all out in every game, they deserve all the credit.

"Sometimes you win through belief, sometimes with the heart, sometimes with confidence. They also had chances. This result strengthens the team."

The result fires Barcelona to the top of Group E with four points from two matches.
