Villarreal president Fernando Roig has criticised Atletico Madrid for their conduct as Yellow Submarine midfielder Rodri Hernandez nears a return to the capital giants.
Rodri spent six years with Atletico before joining Villarreal in 2013, and the 21-year-old has gone on to make 80 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Atletico have reportedly agreed an £18m deal to re-sign Rodri this summer, and Roig has blasted Diego Simeone's side for their actions as the deal nears completion.
"Atletico are a club who say one thing then do another," Marca quotes Roig as saying. "We are not a club who will stand in the way of a player who has a desire to leave, and while we always want to keep our best players as long as possible, that is football."
Rodri scored once and provided four assists in 47 appearances for Villarreal in all competitions during the 2017-18 campaign.
