Report: Atletico Madrid eye Bastian Schweinsteiger

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is reportedly a summer transfer target of Atletico Madrid.

There have been suggestions in Spain over recent weeks that Diego Simeone is particularly keen to bolster his midfield options to give his side the best chance of challenging for the La Liga title during the 2015-16 campaign.

Atleti have been linked with a host of players in that position, but Simeone is keen on Schweinsteiger, according to Bild.

The report adds that while the 30-year-old is regarded as a key player at the Allianz Arena, he does not currently share the most positive of relationships with head coach Pep Guardiola.

As a result, at the end of the season the Germany international may be tempted to consider his options, with the Spanish capital a potential destination.

Last summer, Bayern sold striker Mario Mandzukic to Atletico for an undisclosed fee.
