Former Manchester United striker Terry Gibson has claimed that Atletico Madrid would be willing to sell Jackson Martinez in the January transfer window.
Martinez, 29, joined Atletico from Porto last summer off the back of scoring 92 times in 132 games during his time in Portugal.
The Colombian has only scored two La Liga goals this season, however, and it has been suggested that Atletico could cut their losses this month.
Gibson, who covers Spanish football for Sky Sports News, has said that he would not be surprised to see Atleti boss Diego Simeone part with the forward in the winter window.
"He's been a massive disappointment in La Liga so far, we thought he was going to be the perfect partner for Antoine Griezmann but he's had injury issues and he's not been finding the net on a regular basis," said Gibson.
"It's not unusual for Diego Simeone to spend a lot of money on a player and then ditch him, he's quite decisive and I can understand the speculation around Martinez."
Martinez has been linked with a move to Chelsea in a deal that would see Diego Costa return to the Vicente Calderon.
