Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has insisted that Matias Kranevitter will not be sold this summer.
The Argentine midfielder made the move to Atletico from River Plate in the January transfer window and had been tipped to make an impression in the second half of the 2015-16 campaign.
The 23-year-old struggled for first-team football at the Vicente Calderon, however, and it has been reported that a number of clubs are preparing offers for the central midfielder.
Amid the speculation, Cerezo has played down suggestions that Kranevitter could depart the Spanish capital.
"He's a great player and a great person and very important to Atletico, even though he has played very little. Why loan or sell him? All players want to play, but Matias is very young, he's growing a lot, developing his technique and I think that is the basis for Atletico in the coming seasons," Cerezo told AS.
Kranevitter has three Argentine caps to his name.
