Atletico Madrid to beat Premier League clubs to Everton Soares deal?

Atletico Madrid reportedly near an agreement with Gremio for the transfer of Brazil international Everton Soares.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Gremio over a deal for Everton Soares.

The 23-year-old finished as top scorer for Brazil at the 2019 Copa America, netting three times for the Selecao as they lifted the trophy for a ninth time.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City were all linked with the attacker earlier this summer, with the latter said to have offered £36m plus bonuses for his services.

However, according to Marca, Atletico are at the head of the queue for Everton, who could make the move to the Wanda Metropolitano in January once the current Brazilian season has finished.

The South American has scored 39 times in 156 appearances for his current club in all competitions, while he has a contract at the Arena do Gremio until December 2022.

A busy transfer window thus far has seen Atletico secure deals for the likes of Joao Felix, Marcos Llorente and Kieran Trippier.
