Wednesday's Major League Soccer predictions including Inter Miami vs. Toronto

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Major League Soccer fixtures, including Inter Miami vs. Toronto.

Atlanta vs. NY City (Thursday, 12.30am)

Atlanta United can end a lengthy losing run on Wednesday when they host New York City FC in MLS action at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

On Saturday, the Five Stripes suffered their fourth successive defeat across all competitions, 1-0 to CF Montreal, while the Boys in Blue played to a 0-0 draw with the Chicago Fire.

We say: Atlanta United 1-1 New York City FC

The last three times these sides have met, it has ended in a draw and given how well they each know each other, we do not see a distinct advantage for one side over the other on Wednesday.

Cincinnati vs. Chicago Fire (Thursday, 12.30am)

FC Cincinnati will be bidding to remain at the top of the Eastern Conference standings when they host Chicago Fire on Wednesday evening.

In sharp contrast, the visitors know that they may need to avoid defeat to ensure they do not sit at the bottom of the table by the end of the night.

We say: FC Cincinnati 4-1 Chicago Fire

While Cincinnati may have suffered defeat last time out, that could only make Chicago Fire's task far tougher. We expect the home side to run riot, ensuring they remain with their noses in front at the top of the table.

Columbus Crew vs. Charlotte FC (Thursday, 12.30am)

Columbus Crew will attempt to claim a sixth consecutive win when they play host to Charlotte FC on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be looking to record a second straight victory after beating FC Cincinnati 3-1 at the weekend.

We say: Columbus Crew 3-1 Charlotte FC

Columbus Crew will be full of confidence after winning their last five matches by a combined 20-2 scoreline, and we think they will produce another free-scoring display to see off Charlotte in Wednesday's contest.

Inter Miami vs. Toronto (Thursday, 12.30am)

Over a week after a suffering crushing defeat to an Eastern Conference foe, Inter Miami will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Toronto at Chase Stadium.

The Herons dropped down to second in the MLS Supporters' Shield standings with a 6-1 loss at FC Cincinnati, while the Reds ended a lengthy losing run with a 2-1 triumph over the Philadelphia Union.

We say: Inter Miami 3-1 Toronto

Miami have proven they can win without Messi, despite what we saw in their previous encounter, and they should be able to expose a Toronto backline that have rarely looked organised or compact this season.

NY Red Bulls vs. Montreal (Thursday, 12.30am)

The only unbeaten team at home in MLS this year will put that record on the line on Wednesday as the New York Red Bulls host CF Montreal at Red Bulls Arena.

Thanks to a 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rapids last weekend, the Red Bulls remain fourth in the Eastern Conference, while Le CFM defeated Atlanta United 1-0, moving into a tie with Nashville SC for the final playoff spot.

We say: New York Red Bulls 2-0 CF Montreal

The Red Bulls' consistency at home has us leaning towards them winning on Wednesday against a Montreal side that appear to be rather intimidated and uneasy outside of Saputo Stadium.

Philadelphia vs. New England (Thursday, 12.30am)

New England Revolution head coach Caleb Porter reacts on July 4, 2024© Reuters

Philadelphia Union and New England Revolution will be looking to avoid sitting bottom of the Eastern Conference standings when they square off on Wednesday night.

While the home side currently hold that position, just three points cover the bottom five teams in the division.

We say: Philadelphia Union 2-2 New England Revolution

With the regular season close to entering its business end, this could prove to be a pivotal fixture. The teams have contrasting attacking records, yet we feel that a thriller could play out, one which benefits no-one in an entertaining draw.

Dallas vs. Austin (Thursday, 1.30am)

FC Dallas midfielder Patrickson Delgado (6) reacts after scoring a goal on May 23, 2024© Reuters

Dallas will be looking to make it three home wins on the bounce for the first time since July 2022 when they go head to head with Austin FC on Wednesday.

The Verde and Black have failed to win any of their previous five visits to the Toyota Stadium since August 2021 and will head into the midweek clash looking to end this three-year spell.

We say: Dallas 2-1 Austin FC

Dallas have put together a fine run of results at home in recent weeks and will be backing themselves to pick up where they left off against LA Galaxy. Austin have struggled for results on their travels, and given their record at the Toyota Stadium, we are tipping the hosts to come out on top once again.

Minnesota Utd vs. DC United (Thursday, 1.30am)

Two sides who could do well with a win go head to head in the MLS as Minnesota United play host to DC United at Allianz Field on Thursday morning.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides since July 2022, when the Loons picked up a 2-0 home victory courtesy of a brace from Argentine midfielder Emanuel Reynoso.

We say: Minnesota United 2-1 DC United

Buoyed by their win over Nashville, DC United will head into the midweek clash with renewed belief as they look to put together a fine run of form. While Minnesota have struggled to get going in recent weeks, they have lost just three home games this season. We predict the Loons will build on their draw with Houston and secure all three points in front of their home supporters.

Nashville vs. Orlando City (Thursday, 1.30am)

After suffering four consecutive defeats, Nashville SC will attempt to return to winning ways when they welcome Orlando City to GEODIS Park for Wednesday's MLS encounter.

In contrast to their hosts, the Lions will carry significant momentum into the midweek contest after recording three successive victories.

We say: Nashville SC 1-3 Orlando City

Nashville will be low on confidence after four straight defeats, while their opponents will be full of belief following three consecutive victories, and we think that Orlando will continue to build momentum by claiming another victory in Wednesday's away fixture.

LA Galaxy vs. Colorado (Thursday, 3.30am)

LA Galaxy (Los Angeles Galaxy) head coach Greg Vanney looks on on February 24, 2024© Reuters

Fresh from a second loss in three matches last time out, Los Angeles Galaxy play host to Colorado Rapids at the Dignity Health Sports Park on Wednesday.

The away side, meanwhile, head to California seeking to continue their recent resurgence, which has seen them go unbeaten in six of seven matches leading up to this one.

We say: Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2 Colorado Rapids

With two of the MLS' highest-scoring teams set to go head-to-head, we are expecting an exciting contest decorated by goals. That said, we are also tipping the home side to carry the day at the end of the 90 minutes.

Earthquakes vs. Houston (Thursday, 3.30am)

Houston Dynamo FC head coach Ben Olsen looks on on March 24, 2024© Reuters

After collecting just one point from their last two matches, Houston Dynamo will attempt to return to winning ways when they travel to PayPal Park for Wednesday's MLS clash with San Jose Earthquakes.

Meanwhile, the Earthquakes are in desperate need of three points after losing seven of their previous eight matches.

We say: San Jose Earthquakes 1-2 Houston Dynamo

Houston may have found wins hard to come by in recent away games, but we still think they will prove too strong for a San Jose side who will be low on confidence after losing seven of their last eight matches.

Seattle vs. St Louis City (Thursday, 3.30am)

Seattle Sounders FC head coach Brian Schmetzer on February 25, 2024© Reuters

Two teams on a contrasting run of results face off at Lumen Field as Seattle Sounders square up against St Louis City on Wednesday.

The hosts are on a five-game winning run across all competitions, while their visitors boast just one victory in 12 matches leading up to this one.

We say: Seattle Sounders 3-1 St Louis City

Seattle are on fire at the moment, and it is hard to envisage any other outcome than a win for them. We fully expect the hosts to cruise to all three points in a relatively comfortable manner.

Vancouver vs. Kansas (Thursday, 3.30am)

Riding a five-match unbeaten run across all competitions, the Vancouver Whitecaps begin a three-game MLS homestand on Wednesday when they host Sporting Kansas City at BC Place Stadium.

A 4-1 victory over St Louis City on Saturday lifted the Caps into sixth in the Western Conference, while KC are 12th following a 2-1 triumph versus the San Jose Earthquakes.

We say: Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 Sporting Kansas City

The Caps appear to be heating up at the right time, and with some of their energy players returning, we expect them to utilise their speed in transition on Wednesday and keep their unbeaten run intact.

Los Angeles vs. Salt Lake (Thursday, 3.45am)

Los Angeles FC and Real Salt Lake will both look to bounce back from heavy defeats when they go head-to-head in Wednesday's MLS encounter at BMO Stadium.

The two sides have both collected 43 points this season, with LAFC sitting in pole position in the Western Conference and above Real Salt Lake due to their total number of victories.

We say: Los Angeles FC 2-1 Real Salt Lake

With both teams level on 43 points, we expect Wednesday's clash to produce a close-fought contest, but we think LAFC could use home advantage to claim a narrow victory, especially as they have won nine of their 12 home MLS matches this season.
