Daniel Sturridge has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Serie A club Atalanta BC.
Despite being released by Liverpool earlier this summer, Sturridge is yet to agree a deal with a new club, and English teams are now out of the running after the closure of the summer window.
However, many other European sides are able to conduct business until the start of September, leaving the door open to a switch to the continent.
According to Sky in Italy, Atalanta are attempting to sign the 29-year-old as they prepare for their first-ever Champions League campaign.
The club stiff competition, though, with Sturridge having been previously linked with outfits in Turkey, Qatar and the MLS.
The England international contributed 67 goals from 160 appearances during his six-and-a-half-year stint at Anfield.
