Aston Villa terminate Philippe Senderos's contract

Aston Villa announce that the contract of defender Philippe Senderos has been terminated "by mutual consent".

Aston Villa have confirmed that the contract of defender Philippe Senderos has been terminated "by mutual consent".

The 30-year-old centre-back joined the Villans from Valencia ahead of the 2014-15 season but went on to make just nine appearances and was left out of the club's 25-man Premier League squad this term.

In a statement, the club said: "Aston Villa and Philippe Senderos have mutually agreed to terminate the defender's contract. Senderos arrived in June 2014 and made nine appearances in claret and blue.

"The club wishes Philippe all the best in his future career."

Villa are currently 10 points from safety at the foot of the Premier League.
