Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is said to be plotting a move for France international forward Bafetimbi Gomis, who has one year remaining on his current contract at Lyon.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is reportedly plotting a bid for Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis.

The 27-year-old, who scored 16 goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances last season, has just one year remaining on his current contract at the Stade de Gerland.

According to The Sun, Lambert is hopeful of negotiating a knock-down transfer fee for Gomis, whom he hopes to tempt to Villa Park with wages of £50,000 per week.

Swansea City, Newcastle United, Cardiff City and Shakhtar Donetsk have also been linked with an interest in the French international.
