Report: David Moyes favourite to replace under-fire Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa

David Moyes is the early favourite to replace under-fire Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood as speculation mounts over his future.

Aston Villa will turn to former Manchester United boss David Moyes if they sack Tim Sherwood, according to reports.

The Villans make the trip to Premier League champions Chelsea on Saturday with just one victory all season and 18th in the table as a result.

Speculation is rife that Sherwood, whose side have lost their last six league outings, has three games to save his job as the pressure continues to build.

However, Real Sociedad boss Moyes, who has won just one of his last seven Liga matches, is high on the shortlist of potential successors, according to The Mirror.

The report goes on to claim that the Scot remains well thought of in the Premier League despite his United woes, having lasted less than a year at Old Trafford.

Moyes previously spent over a decade at Everton, leading them to a top-four finish in 2005.
