Nigel Spink expects Aston Villa response

Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Nigel Spink is confident that the team will end their run of six consecutive defeats sooner rather than later.

Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Nigel Spink has backed the team to end their poor run of form soon.

Six consecutive defeats in the Premier League have left the Villans just two points above the relegation zone.

Their most recent loss came on Sunday against Tottenham Hotspur, but Spink is confident that Paul Lambert's side will get back to winning ways once they welcome back players from injury.

"They are still missing three key players on this bad run that they have had, with Alan Hutton, Philippe Senderos and Fabian Delph all out," he told BBC Sport. "When they get those back I'd like to think there will be an upturn in luck.

"Every Villa supporter will be grabbing on to that hope that those players will come back and we will see better performances."

Villa continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they travel to Upton Park to face high-flying West Ham United.
