Report: Jack Grealish to be handed three-match ban

Jack Grealish faces the prospect of missing the much-anticipated meeting with Birmingham City later this month, as he is expected to be handed a three-match ban.

The Football Association has reportedly decided to punish Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish for his stamp on Conor Coady, ruling him out of the upcoming derby clash with Birmingham City.

Grealish is alleged to have brought his boot down on Coady during the 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday - an incident that went unpunished by the referee at the time.

Villa have been made to sweat on retrospective action by the FA, however, which the Birmingham Mail reports will be bad news for new boss Steve Bruce as Grealish is to be handed a three-match ban.

Should that be the case, and the punishment automatically kicks in, the England Under-21s international will sit out the remainder of October's fixtures against Reading, Fulham and the much-anticipated second city derby meeting with Birmingham.

The FA is given two working days to make a decision, meaning that an announcement will be made prior to the Villans' trip to to Madejski Stadium on Tuesday evening.
