Paul Lambert hails Aston Villa strikeforce

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert says that his strikers have looked "lively" in training during the past week.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has claimed that his front three of Christian Benteke, Gabby Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann are a "handful for any team".

The Villans have failed to find the back of the net in their last three matches, but Lambert is confident they can rediscover their scoring touch when they face Norwich City in the Premier League on Sunday.

"We spoke with the three of them during the week. They have looked really lively this week. They are getting into positions to score. That's the thing," he told the club's official website. "Look at the game up at Liverpool, Christian and Andi scored while Gabby was the one who set them up. That's a proper front-three performance.

"They are a handful for any team. They just need that finishing touch. I'm not too despondent in terms of the way we are playing. We are creating chances. We just need someone to take them.

"A lot of teams would love our front three. We just need to keep playing the way we are and turn that into goals."

Aston Villa are currently 13th in the Premier League table, but are only four points clear of the relegation zone.
