Aston Villa's Christian Benteke out for six weeks

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert rules striker Christian Benteke out for six weeks with a hip injury.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke could be out of action for up to six weeks with a hip injury.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury during the Villans' 1-0 victory over Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday.

"Paul Lambert confirms Christian Benteke will be out for four-six weeks. Better news than he first feared," read a tweet from Villa's official Twitter account on Tuesday night following their 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the League Cup.

Benteke joined Villa from Genk in 2012.
